“I like to tinker with anything mechanical,” says John. But he’s being modest. John doesn’t just tinker; he fixes things – everything from clocks to cars. John’s tinkering is a special passion. His love of working and fixing things is probably an outgrowth of his love for his father and a quiet way of honoring him. “My Dad was a machinist and he taught me a lot of stuff about mechanical areas,” remembers John. “He didn’t realize he was doing it, but I learned a lot from him. He died when I was a kid.”
John’s father instilled in him a love of tinkering. Goodwill helped put it to work for him. And because of his work, John can boast something that most of us can’t. “My house is paid for,” says John with a grin. “And that’s a great feeling.” |
